We Had to take advantage of the beautiful weather And add this game last minute. New Trier came out with only a moments notice. The Fenwick Friars Varsity team took the field at Ruby in Melrose Park at 5PM on Monday, March 22nd. We won the game in 5 innings by slaughter rule. Talia struck out 12. 12 of the 15 recorded outs were by way of strikeout. Kailey Janda went 4/4 with 2 doubles, 2 triples and 4RBI Sophie Stone was firing rockets from Third to First base. Legendary Coach Dave Power was in attendance to support the Fenwick Friars. Simon(SS) went 3 for 3 with 1 single, 1 double and 1 triple, scoring 3 times and walking once.
Bats were Hot! Weather was not. For most of us, if not all, it was our first game together. We had a fun bus ride over and we showed up eager to play. Jones didn't know what hit them in a long top half of the first inning. We scored 14 in the top half of the first. Stone tripled, driving in 3. Barganski homered driving in 3. Kolb tripled driving in 3. To make matters worse, for Jones, our pitching was on. Lorenzo shut them down quick in the bottom half of the first with a 3 up, 3 down, 3 strike out, 9 pitch inning. Janda repeated that performance, in the circle, in the bottom half of the 2nd inning with a 3 up, 3 down, 3 strike out inning. That was all Jones could handle. Jones conceded the game before we started the 3rd inning.
Sunday, December 19th, 2021 The Fenwick Friars saw a record turnout for their winter camp with 136 plus registrations. Alumi came from all over the country. Special guest appearances included Alyssa Stramaglia, Cassy Lee & Andy Fuentes. Winter Camp included a visit from St. Xavier Softball Pitching Coach Jason Bolden. His instruction was icing on the cake of an already successful camp.
