Instrumental Program

Fenwick Instrumental Program Goals

The Fenwick Instrumental Program is a positive and supportive community. Students have the opportunity to develop their personal and musical skills through a wide range of high quality experiences with the aim that they will develop a lifelong enjoyment of music.  Students participating in the Fenwick High School’s instrumental ensembles will be able to:
  • Perform large ensemble, chamber ensemble, and solo repertoire at their highest individual and group potential.
  • Demonstrate musical and technical prowess on their instrument.
  • Discuss cultural and historical context for the music they perform.
  • Analyze and evaluate musical performances given by themselves and others.
  • Compose, notate, arrange, and improvise music within specified guidelines.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of basic music theory.
  • Demonstrate effective peer leadership.

Fenwick Instrumental Program offers the following courses: String Orchestra, Wind Ensemble, Concert Band, Percussion Ensemble I & II, and Jazz Band. The Bands and Percussion combine to create the Fenwick Pep Band that plays at home varsity football games, basketball games, other sports events, and pep rallies.

      All performances start at 7 pm in the Fenwick Roger A. Finnell ‘59 Auditorium.

    • Europe Trips - Budapest, Vienna, Prague (2018) and Spain (2025)
    • Domestic Trips - DisneyWorld Trips every 3 years
    • Jazz Band Performances at Fitzgerald's in Berwyn since 2022
    • Jazz Band - two professionally recorded albums on BandCamp
    • State of the Art Band Contest 2025 - 1st Place in Division AA
    • State of the Art Band Contest 2024 - 2nd Place in A Division and AA Division
    • State of the Art Band Contest 2023 - 1st Place in AA Division
    • Students selected for ILMEA District 1 Festival every year
    • Students selected for ILMEA All-State in 2020, 2023, 2024, 2025,2026
