New Principal and Interim Principal
Fenwick Announces New Principal and Names Interim Principal
Fenwick President Fr. Richard Peddicord, O.P., is pleased to announce that Dr. John Finan '87 will serve as Principal of Fenwick High School beginning in the 2024-2025 school year.
Fenwick President Fr. Richard Peddicord, O.P., is pleased to announce that Dr. John Finan '87 will serve as Principal of Fenwick High School beginning in the 2024-2025 school year.
Charly Ieremia has been named Interim Principal through the remainder of the 2023-2024 school year.
Dr. Finan has spent his entire professional career in the education sector. Over the past 15 years, he has served as Associate Principal (2008-2015) and Principal (2015-2020) at Glenbrook North High School in Northbrook. He is currently employed as the Instructional Supervisor for Summer School and Spanish Teacher for Glenbrook District 225 (2020-present). His background includes 13 years of college teaching experience at the American University, the University of Nevada and Harper College, where he also served as the Associate Dean of Liberal Arts. He began his career at Fenwick, teaching Spanish from 1991-1994.
Dr. Finan is a graduate of Fenwick's Class of 1987. His Father, John E. Finan '52, and brothers Marty '79, Matthew '82, and Tom '83 are also Fenwick graduates, as are several of his nieces and nephews.
Fenwick's Board Chairman, Matt McNicholas '96, states, "Dr. Finan's dedication to academic excellence, profound love for Fenwick, and excitement to contribute to our continued success is palpable. His extensive experience in education, success in leadership roles, and close ties to the school made John the ideal choice for Fenwick's next principal. He understands the unique needs and strengths of our great institution and the families it serves. His familiarity with the community and commitment to building strong relationships will undoubtedly strengthen the bonds that make Fenwick's community so special."
Meanwhile, Charly Ieremia has been named Interim Principal through the remainder of the 2023-2024 school year.
Charly was hired by Fenwick in 2017 and has served as Dean of Students (July 2017-June 2022), Interim Director of Student Services (July 2022-June 2023) and Associate Principal for Student Services (July 2023-present). Prior to her employment at Fenwick, Charly was Assistant Principal at St. Joseph High School in Westchester (August 2014 – July 2017).
"We are thankful for her leadership during this time of transition," said Fr. Peddicord. "We welcome John and Charly to their new roles at Fenwick and look forward to partnering with them to ensure Fenwick's mission and continue our tradition of academic excellence while growing and strengthening our great institution."
