Fenwick Friars Fight their way back to .500

Fenwick Varsity Friars defeated Elmwood Park 7-3 on Saturday. Friars fight their way back to .500, evening their season record at 11-11. The solid win on Saturday has sectional implications. Friars make a strong case for the #2 seed in the sectional, beating every team they faced head to head, in the sectional, except for Benet Academy.
Fenwick Varsity Friars opened up scoring in the first inning, when Kailey Janda singled on a 3-2 count, scoring one run.
Fenwick Varsity Friars put up four runs in the sixth inning.  Fenwick Varsity Friars's offense in the inning came from a single by Emma Meehan, a home run by Janda, and a double by Leah Lowery.
Talia Lorenzo was the winning pitcher for Fenwick Varsity Friars. The righty allowed one hit and zero runs over five innings, striking out eight.  Sophie Stone threw two innings in relief out of the bullpen.  Stone recorded the last six outs to earn the save for Fenwick Varsity Friars.
Fenwick Varsity Friars launched one home run on the day. Janda had a homer in the sixth inning.
Janda went 2-for-4 at the plate to lead Fenwick Varsity Friars in hits.
