Friars dominate Mt Carmel on Senior Night, Clinch playoff berth
The Fenwick Friars rugby team celebrated their 7 seniors (CJ Brown, Jaxon Cloud, Max Kenny, Tim Mulcahy, TJ Nix, Andy Reyes, and Eiam Staples) prior to the season finale against Mt Carmel. They then continued the celebration into the game, dominating a short handed Mt Carmel team by a final score of 58 - 7.
The Friars scored early and often, with the senior group leading the way. TJ Nix scored 3 tries, and Tim Mulcahy, CJ Brown and Max Kenny also scoring tries to pace the team. Additional try scorers were Joe Mollo, Patrick Nix (2 tries and 4 conversion kicks), and Connor Wahl with a long breakaway run. A late try by Mt Carmel was the only blemish of the evening.
The Friars punched their ticket into the State playoffs, and will play either nationally ranked LaSalette Academy or Neuqua Valley in the fist round.
