9 Friars Earn Evans Scholarships

A record-breaking number of Fenwick seniors were selected for the prestigious caddie scholarship.
Congratulations to Fenwick’s nine senior Evans Scholars for 2026, selected by the Western Golf Association’s Evans Scholars Foundation:

John Cox (Roosevelt Middle School, River Forest) - Oak Park Country Club
Kate Cox (Roosevelt Middle School, River Forest) - Oak Park Country Club
Maddy Cox (Roosevelt Middle School, River Forest) - Oak Park Country Club
Solanus Daley (St. Vincent Ferrer School, River Forest) - Oak Park Country Club
Allen Gil (Freedom Middle School, Berwyn) - Briarwood Country Club
Joe O'Bryan (Hauser Junior High School, Riverside) - Riverside Golf Club
Leah Reynoso (Epiphany Catholic School, Chicago) - Skokie Country Club
Kim Robles (Lincoln Middle School, Berwyn) - Glen View Club
Alisha Walker (Lincoln Middle School, Berwyn) - Riverside Golf Club

Fenwick’s Evans Scholar Liaison Jerry Kribs describes this group of students as “unbelievably hard-working” leaders inside and outside of the classroom, in addition to their “tireless” work on the golf course.

Over the past 12 years, more than 60 Friars have received the prestigious caddie scholarship - the most of any high school in the country during that time period. Seventeen are currently enrolled in college.

“There is no doubt that the formation students go through at Fenwick makes them outstanding candidates for the Evans Scholarship,” Mr. Kribs said. “The scholarship requirements fit perfectly with Fenwick's motto of ‘Lead, Achieve and Serve.’ The leaders that Fenwick produces always impress the scholarship committee, and the committee knows that any student who is thriving academically at Fenwick will thrive at a top-tier university.”

Fenwick is also among the top 5 institutions in the U.S. for graduating Evans Scholars, with 143 to date. The next round of scholarship finalist interviews will take place in February, so there is a chance that Fenwick could add more scholars to an already record-breaking year.

“It is one of the great blessings of my life that I get a chance to connect with students as they earn the same life-changing scholarship that I was lucky enough to receive,” Mr. Kribs added. “These students have accomplished amazing things in spite of the challenges they have faced. Hearing their dreams and aspirations always inspires me about the future - and the Evans Scholarship helps make those dreams a reality.”
