With the merger of the Girls Chicago Athletic and East Suburban Catholic Conferences, Fenwick finds itself in the White Division with the likes of DePaul, Providence and St. Ignatius. With a number of key players back from a team that advanced to an IHSA Class 3A supersectional last fall, the Friars are looking to take it a step further in 2026. “The goal is going down to state, and last season we were a match short,” said coach Tee Pimsarn. “That’s our biggest goal. Everyone is 0-0 during playoffs, and from August 10 to playoff time, we’re going to get our players to develop and grow physically, mentally and emotionally. We don’t need to peak in August, we need to peak in October and November.” Fenwick’s frontline veterans include 5-11 junior outside hitter Emily Drumm (179 kills in 2025), 5-11 junior pin hitter Maggie Hiller, 5-5 setter Hailey Bernahl (315 assists, 142 digs, 39 aces), 6-0 setter/rightside hitter Sofia Grossman (337 assists, 133 digs, 19 aces), 6-1 middle hitter Jordan Rossi (38 kills) and 5-10 junior middle hitter Taylor Durham. “This will be Hailey’s third year on varsity,” Pimsarn said. “She’s going to continue to develop and keep growing our offense her senior season. She’s going to have to further develop volleyball IQ and make sound decisions. We’re looking forward to Hailey becoming a consistent ball distributor and offense leader. We’re also looking for Jordan to be a constant presence on both sides of the game. Our defensive scheme is predicated on having her taking away space at the net. Taylor was on JV as the M1. We pulled her up to varsity during the playoffs and big things are expected of her the next two seasons. We need Taylor to connect with both setters on offense.” New faces to watch are freshman outside hitter Olivia Vanosky, sophomore setter Phoebe Baker and freshman pin hitter Maeve Mulvihill.
