Fenwick High School has hired varsity assistant coach Kyle Kmiecik as its next varsity head baseball coach.
Mr. Kmiecik, a 2000 graduate of Fenwick, has been an assistant varsity baseball coach and faculty member since 2012.
While a student at Fenwick, Kmiecik was a four-year member of the baseball program, earning All-State and All-Conference honors his junior and senior years. After graduating from Fenwick in 2000, Kyle continued playing baseball at Millikin University (2000-2003), Southern Wesleyan University (2004-2005), the Sioux Falls Canaries (2005-2006), the Kalamazoo Kings (2006-2008), and the Sussex Skyhawks (2009) before earning a M.A.T. in Special Education from National-Lewis University in 2012. Mr. Kmiecik joined the Fenwick faculty full-time in 2012 as a Learning Resource Coordinator, a position he still holds today.
"Fenwick High School is excited to announce Kyle Kmiecik as our next Head Baseball Coach. Coach Kmiecik wants to see all kids reach their potential in baseball, in the classroom, and most importantly in life. We feel strongly that his experience developing student-athletes while representing the school he loves will make him a great fit to lead our program!," said Athletic Director Scott Thies, Fenwick Class of 1999.
"I am thankful for the opportunity to represent Fenwick and our baseball program and to continue working with our well-respected and hard-working coaches. We are blessed to be able to coach such respectful young men who listen, learn and strive to better themselves and their teammates every day. Our program has a long-standing tradition of excellence built by our Friar baseball alum and coaches, who worked tirelessly and made many sacrifices for their respective teams, teammates and school. I have much respect for our Friar baseball history and traditions, so I look forward to growing our baseball family and building upon all of the success and foundation set by past and current coaches and our alum. My family and I are excited and humbled. Go Friars!," Kyle Kmiecik '00 added.
