The Unique Fenwick Legacy

Fenwick High School is a unique place. Not only is it the only high school in the country sponsored by Dominican Friars, Fenwick embodies the 800-year-old four core spiritual values of the Order of Preachers (O.P.): prayer, study, community and preaching.

School-wide prayer and reflection are integral to daily life at Fenwick. We are an academic, college preparatory, educational institution in the tradition of St. Thomas Aquinas, O.P. Alumni, parents, students, faculty, staff and our Dominican Friars comprise a welcoming, diverse community of Friars-for-life. Speech class, art, music and a nationally recognized debate program personify our preaching value.

This legacy has been passed on to us. It is our responsibility to foster and strengthen it for future generations.

The Institutional Advancement Department (IAD) exists to advance the mission of Fenwick: “Fenwick High School, guided by Dominican Catholic values, inspires excellence and educates each student to lead, achieve and serve.”

We do this by primarily focusing on activities that are external to Fenwick’s core educational mission, but are vital to the long-term strength and vigor of a private, Catholic high school. These activities include marketing communications, alumni relations, events, honors and awards and philanthropy.

Philanthropy plays a vital role in furthering the 89-year-old history of Fenwick and strengthening the school for its second century. The IAD seeks philanthropic support from the entire Fenwick community to help fund annual operating expenses, capital improvements, tuition assistance and endowment. We do this in keeping with the four core spiritual values of the Dominicans.

As Fenwick enters its 90th anniversary school year in 2018-19, we are excited to embark on the bold vision of Excellence, Leadership, Tradition - The Centennial Campaign for Fenwick High School. This historic campaign will lead Fenwick to its centennial celebration in 2028-29 and will solidify its future for the next 100 years.

As you review your giving opportunities, please be mindful of the privilege and responsibility we have to be good stewards. When you support Fenwick, you not only demonstrate your commitment to today’s students to “lead, achieve and serve,” you further an 800-year-old Dominican legacy of prayer, study, community and preaching that is as vital today as when St. Dominic founded the order of preachers in 1216.

Please do not hesitate to contact the Institutional Advancement Department so that our team may assist you. Thank you for making Fenwick one of your philanthropic priorities.

Sincerely,
