Dr. James Quaid comes back to Fenwick by way of DePaul Prep, Marmion Academy and the Archdiocese of Chicago.
Fenwick High School is pleased to announce that Dr. James Quaid will be returning to Fenwick as the Director of Student Services and Enrollment Management when we begin the 2018-2019 school year.
After serving Fenwick for 21 years, Dr. Quaid accepted the position of Associate Superintendent of Schools for the Archdiocese of Chicago, the largest private school system in the United States.
Over the past decade Dr. Quaid has held Headmaster and Principal positions at Marmion Academy in Aurora and, most recently, at DePaul College Prep (formerly Gordon Tech) in Chicago, where he has led the school’s resurgence in enrollment and revamped the curriculum.
Over Dr. Quaid’s 35 years in education he has served in numerous capacities. He has been a coach, a classroom instructor, Dean of Students, Associate Principal and the leader of three of the Chicago area’s most well- regarded schools. He has also served on the boards of numerous area elementary schools, secondary schools and universities.
The breadth of his professional and personal activities has spanned academics, administration, athletics and parenting three Fenwick graduates. He has held leadership positions in the Chicago Catholic League, the East Suburban Catholic Conference and with the Illinois High School Association. Fenwick and both the Catholic and East Suburban Leagues have all inducted him into their Halls of Fame, in addition to recognition for excellence by the Illinois State Board of Education.
“Dr. Quaid’s experience at the Archdiocese of Chicago, Marmion Academy and DePaul College Prep will benefit Fenwick going forward especially in the area of enrollment management,” states Mr. Peter Groom, Principal of Fenwick. “This role also gives Dr. Quaid the opportunity to work more closely with students, which is what initially drew him into the educational profession. I am excited on a personal level to work with Dr. Quaid going forward, but I am even more excited for what this means for the future of our school.”
Father Peddicord, President of Fenwick, observes: “Dr. Quaid epitomizes the excellence, leadership and tradition that is Fenwick High School. I am eager to work with him to enhance the educational experience of our young men and women.”
Father Peddicord also stated that Mr. Richard Borsch is the undisputed dean of college counselors in the State of Illinois. With Dr. Quaid back at Fenwick, Mr. Borsch will be able to focus all of his attention on guiding our students to the colleges of their choice.
F. Scott Fitzgerald is reputed to have said, “There are no second acts in American lives.” Mr. Borsch concludes, “Dr. Quaid has had demonstrably successful subsequent achievements since leaving Fenwick. We look forward to an equally successful return as we move toward celebrating our centennial.”
