Fenwick Friars Fight through the Freeze

Fenwick Varsity Friars took the lead late in the game in a 16-6 victory over DePaul College Prep on Wednesday.  The game was tied at six with Fenwick Varsity Friars batting in the bottom of the fourth when Ellie Kolb hit a solo homer. Lorenzo earned the win for Fenwick Varsity Friars. The pitcher allowed zero hits and zero runs over two and two-thirds innings, striking out six and walking zero.

Fenwick Varsity Friars got on the board in the first inning when Kolb singled on a 2-2 count, scoring one run.
 
Fenwick Varsity Friars pulled away for good with seven runs in the fourth inning.  In the fourth Kolb hit a solo homer, Sophie Stone singled on a 2-2 count, scoring one run, Kailey Janda tripled on a 2-2 count, scoring two runs, Talia Lorenzo singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run, and Madelyn Entler singled on a 0-1 count, scoring two runs.
 
Lorenzo earned the win for Fenwick Varsity Friars. The pitcher allowed zero hits and zero runs over two and two-thirds innings, striking out six and walking zero.
 
 
Leah Lowery started the game for Fenwick Varsity Friars. The righthander surrendered six runs on nine hits over three and a third innings, striking out four and walking zero
 
Fenwick Varsity Friars hit one home run on the day. Kolb went for the long ball in the fourth inning.
 
Fenwick Varsity Friars tallied 20 hits on the day.  Stone, Kolb, Janda, Molly Mullen, Caity Barganski, and Entler all collected multiple hits for Fenwick Varsity Friars.  Stone led Fenwick Varsity Friars with four hits in five at bats.  Fenwick Varsity Friars didn't commit a single error in the field. Barganski had  ten chances in the field, the most on the team.
