Friars Win at Walter Payton

Fenwick Varsity Friars weathered a push by Payton College Prep Varsity Grizzlies in the fifth inning where Fenwick Varsity Friars coughed up three runs, but Fenwick Varsity Friars still won 11-5 on Monday.  Payton College Prep Varsity Grizzlies's big inning was driven by a single by Sofia White and a groundout by Lilia Tanabe.

 

In the first inning, Fenwick Varsity Friars got their offense started.  Alexis Patterson threw a wild pitch allowing one run across the plate for Fenwick Varsity Friars.

 

Talia Lorenzo earned the win for Fenwick Varsity Friars. Lorenzo went three and a third innings, allowing two runs on four hits, striking out five and walking one.  Leah Lowery threw three and two-thirds innings in relief out of the bullpen.  Lowery recorded the last 11 outs to earn the save for Fenwick Varsity Friars.

 

Patterson took the loss for Payton College Prep Varsity Grizzlies. Patterson allowed ten hits and 11 runs over seven innings, striking out six.

 

Fenwick Varsity Friars racked up ten hits in the game.  Madelyn Entler, Marisa Sena, and Gabriella Simon each had multiple hits for Fenwick Varsity Friars.  Simon, Sena, and Entler each managed two hits to lead Fenwick Varsity Friars.

 

White led Payton College Prep Varsity Grizzlies with two hits in four at bats.
