Fenwick has learned that former English Teacher Duane Langenderfer passed away on May 18 at age 81. Services were held in Ohio. Mr. Langenderfer taught primarily freshmen for several decades -- through the 1970s, '80s and part of the '90s. (He is shown here in 1968.)
Per Roger Finnell, Mr. Langenderfer was a stickler for precise grammar and proper usage of the English language. Alumni appreciated the excellent training in grammar that they had received from him. Those familiar with "Derf" will also remember Ludwig the Lion, his giant stuffed lion that helped him with discipline in the classroom.
