Fenwick Mathletes Win First Place at State Regionals

Team qualifies for State Finals in May for 27th consecutive year!

On Saturday at Concordia University (River Forest), the Fenwick Math Team won first place in State Math Regionals, qualifying the entire, 36-member Friars’ team for the state finals in May for the 27th straight year. Fenwick finished first or tied for first in nine of 10 events.


The Friars' "mathletes" scored 692, ahead of high-school teams from Hinsdale South (593), Glenbard South (520) and Riverside-Brookfield (435). Our individual winners:

  • Geometry - 1st Finley Huggins (sophomore), 2nd Hugo Nunez (sophomore)
  • Algebra II - 1st Logan Maue (junior), 2nd Daniel Majcher (junior), 3rd Sam Sikora (junior)
  • Pre-Calculus - 1st Nate Crowell (senior), 3rd Daniel Castellano (senior)

Maue’s score in Algebra II was Fenwick's first perfect individual score in the 40-year history of the state contest!
