Father Michael Winkels, OP is a Dominican Friar of the Province of St. Albert the Great, USA. He works in both the Technology Office as the Associate Technology Director and as a faculty member in the Expressive Arts Department. He teachers the following courses in the Studio Art Department: Survey of Studio Art, 2-Dimensional Studio Art (Levels I-IV), 3-Dimensional Studio Art (Levels I-IV), AP Art History. In the summers, he teaches a freshman Introduction to Technology course.
Fr. Winkels grew up in Northfield, Minnesota and is the oldest of four children. He attended high school at Bethlehem Academy, a Sinsinawa Dominican sisters school in Faribault, MN. He entered the Dominican Order after graduation from college and was ordained in 1976. He has worked as an Assistant Parochial Vicar at St. Dominic’s Parish in Denver, CO, a staff member of the Aquinas Newman Center, Albuquerque, NM and at the Newman Center at the University of Minnesota. He was also the Director of the Dominican Conference Center in River Forest, IL prior to beginning at Fenwick in 2000. He has worked with the Fenwick Hockey team since he began at Fenwick. In 2007, he was the recipient of the Fenwick Faculty Service and Leadership Award sponsored by the National Honor Society.
