Mr. Andrew Zelm is excited to begin his first year at Fenwick as the Concert Band and Jazz Band Director.

Previously, Mr. Zelm directed Jazz Combos and Brass Technique at the Chicago High School for the Arts. He was also the Director of Bands at the Frances Xavier Warde School in Chicago.

He grew up in Elk Grove Village and participated in band throughout middle school and high school. He graduated form the DePaul School of Music in 2007, where he studied with Tim Coffman, Tom Matta, and Bob Lark. He was also a member of the 2007 Disney All American College Band in Anaheim, California.

In addition to being a band and jazz director, Mr. Zelm is an active jazz trombonists in Chicago. He has performed, recorded, and toured with the LowDown Brass Band, Broadway’s In The Heights, Wilco’s Solid Sound Festival, The White House for the Obama Administration, Oprah Winfrey, Spain’s TurboRock Festival, Abruzzo Italian Jazz Festival, Cotai Jazz Festival, Chicago Jazz Festival, Numero Group Soul Revue, Dartmouth College Gospel Choir, Lindsey Stirling, Ken Arlen’s Evolution Orchestra, and most recently, the Montreal Jazz Festival.

He currently lives in Des Plaines with his wife Brianna and daughter Skylar. Brianna teaches 6th grade science at the Frances Xavier Warde School.
