Theatre courses at Fenwick High School aim to provide opportunities for students with an interest in developing their knowledge about theatre, and the necessary skills to perform in various styles and formats. The theatre track is split into two courses which build in skill and intensity.
This course is designed to introduce students to the various aspects of theatre and to encourage students in further participation, appreciation, and enjoyment of theatre and acting. Students will learn the fundamentals of the theatre as a creative art through the study of voice, movement, and performance. Students will learn a basic approach to working comfortably on the stage through warm-ups, improvisation, monologues, and scene work. Additionally, students will learn to read scripts for meaning, analysis, and evaluation. Students will work to create structured theatre events while working in cooperation with other members of the class to create an ensemble effort onstage. This course fulfills the graduation requirement for Fine Arts, and it is open to freshmen, sophomores, juniors, and seniors.
