Congrats to Fenwick’s ILMEA Festival participants, who will perform this weekend in Elmhurst.

Last month, the Fenwick Music Department sent 37 Band, Choir and Orchestra Honor students to participate in the Illinois Music Education Association District 1 auditions. After months of preparation, more than 2,000 talented musicians auditioned for judges at Carl Sandburg High School in Orland Park. Of those, approximately 350 musicians have been selected to perform at the District 1 ILMEA Festival this coming Saturday, November 18th, at Elmhurst College. (District 1 includes central/west Chicago and much of the western suburbs.)

Congratulations to the following Friars, whom judges selected for these honor groups:

All-District Band

Emmett Husmann - Percussion

All-District Orchestra

Alessia Mollo - Violin

All-District Choir

Isabelle Bucalo - Alto II
Mary Coffey- Alto II
Jill Coffey – Alto II
Olivia Evans – Soprano II
Laura Kelly – Soprano II
Tom Latz – Bass I
Monica Prokup – Soprano I
Grace Toriello – Soprano I
Sarah Winkiel – Soprano I
Joe Zawacki – Tenor II

The one-day event this Saturday features the All-District Band, All-District Orchestra and All District Choir led by guest conductors who are highly regarded university music directors. These groups meet only once – they rehearse all morning and afternoon, then give a one-time-only concert in the evening, performing very difficult music at a high level.

“Music is alive and well at Fenwick!” exclaims Band Director Andrew Thompson.
