6 Friar Swimmers Head to State Meet Today

Led by their IHSA Sectional Coach of the Year, Luke McGuire ’90, these Fenwick student-athletes are poised to make some noise this weekend up north in Winnetka!

Last weekend, the Fenwick Boys' Swim and Dive Team hosted the IHSA Sectional Meet and finished in second place overall. Advancing to the State Meet, which begins today at New Trier High School, are three seniors, one junior, one sophomore and one freshman:

  • 200 Medley Relay: Dan Lynch, Dan Bajda, Connor McCarthy, Liam Hutchinson
  • 200 Freestyle: Liam Hutchinson, Michael Flynn
  • 200 IM: Connor McCarthy
  • 50 Freestyle: Alex Figus
  • 100 Butterfly: Connor McCarthy
  • 500 Freestyle: Liam Hutchinson, Michael Flynn
  • 200 Free Relay: Dan Lynch, Dan Bajda, Alex Figus, Michael Flynn
  • 100 Breaststroke: Dan Lynch
  • 400 Free Relay: Liam Hutchinson, Dan Bajda, Connor McCarthy, Michael Flynn

Also finishing in the top six were: senior Anthony Georgen (1 Meter Diving), freshman Dylan Fu (200 IM and 100 Breast), Lynch (50 Free), sophomore Pete Buinauskas (100 Fly and 100 Back), Figus (100 Free), Bajda (100 Free) and senior Payton Comstock (100 Back).

Congratulations to Head Coach and alumnus Luke McGuire ’90, who was voted by his coaching peers as an IHSA Sectional Coach of the Year.
