The Western Golf Association (WGA) has announced that Fenwick seniors Liam Murphy (Chicago; Park Ridge Country Club), Fines Owens (Berkley; Riverside Country Club) and Marco Torres (Berwyn; Skokie Country Club) will receive the Chick Evans Caddie Scholarship for the 2017–2018 school year.

The Evans Scholarship provides full tuition and housing for golf caddies. Recipients must have “a strong caddie record, excellent grades, outstanding character and demonstrated financial need,” according to the WGA. The award is renewable up to four years meaning that these three Fenwick students could have all four years of their undergraduate studies paid for. The Evans Scholars Program was founded by professional golfer Chick Evans, Jr. and was first awarded to Northwestern students in 1930. Today, over 900 students receive the award.

“These three young men represent the benefits of a Fenwick education. They have shown discipline in their studies and a personal commitment to being a valued member of the community,” said Fenwick President Fr. Richard Peddicord, O.P.

Congratulations guys, great work!
