SENIOR EXAM PROCEDURES FOR MAY, 2008
- All senior exams, including conflict and make-up exams, are given in the Auditorium.
- Normal dress code is in effect for seniors and faculty during exam week. Seniors will not be permitted to take their final exams if they are out of dress code. If the dress code cannot be immediately corrected, send the student to the Dean’s Office. The student may be sent home and must then take the exam during a conflict/make-up time.
- Seniors who have afternoon exams may eat lunch in the Student Cafeteria during “Lunch B”.
- All teachers should be especially attentive when proctoring semester exams because a great pressure to cheat exists. Walk around your designated area so that the students are aware of your presence throughout the testing period. Students may be dismissed after forty minutes if they complete the exam early. Students may not leave the Auditorium to go to their locker or to any other part of the school building. Only in extreme emergencies, should a student be permitted to use the restroom during a final exam.
- Senior exemptions may take place only when the student has earned an A for each quarter. Even if a student has earned an A for both quarters, the exemption is not mandatory; the exemption may take place at the discretion of the instructor. Please consult with your department chairperson for departmental policies regarding exemptions for final exams.
- Silence is to be maintained during the exam periods in the Auditorium and in the hallways. Students who complete the exams before the end of the period may go to the Student Cafeteria. Students may not congregate in the gymnasiums or school building. Students finished with all exams for the day should leave the building.
- Dishonesty will be dealt with severely.
- If a student is absent for an exam, a parent or guardian must call Student Services by 8:00 a.m. and the student must have a note explaining the absence and signed by the parent or guardian on the day of his/her return to school. The note should be brought to Student Services upon the student’s arrival to school. A student will not be allowed to make-up the exam unless he/she has an admit slip from Student Services.
- If a student has a conflict, excused absence, or is late for an exam, the exam must be taken at the very next available “conflict/make-up” time slot. Students may not take the exam on whichever day or time they wish. The teacher should give this exam to Ms. Matthies who will give exams to the proctor in charge of the make-up period. All senior exams must be completed by Wednesday, May 21.
- Any senior failures must be reported to Student Services by 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 21.
UNDERCLASSMEN
CONFLICT - MAKEUP POLICY
All Fenwick absence and tardy policies outlined in the
Parent/Student Handbook apply for the week of final exams.
- There is a scheduled period each day for conflict and make-up exams. These times are listed on the exam schedules posted on the Fenwick website and throughout the school building.
- All conflict and make-up exams will be administered in room 22.
- Only students with excused absences will have make-up privileges. Unexcused absences may result in a zero on the final exam.
- If a student has a conflict, excused absence, or is late for an exam, the exam must be taken at the very next available “conflict/make-up” time slot. Students must discuss conflicts with the teachers involved prior to the exam day. Students may not take the exam on whichever day or time they wish.
- Make-up exams on Friday, June 6 will be held in room 22 at 8:00 a.m. This make-up day is only for students who had excused absences on Thursday. Students with excused absences on Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday may not wait to take the exams on Friday. The exams must be taken at earlier times.
- If a student is absent for an exam, a parent or guardian must call Student Services by 8:00 a.m. and the student must have a note explaining the absence and signed by the parent or guardian on the day of his/her return to school. The note should be brought to Student Services upon the student’s arrival at school. A student will not be allowed to make-up the exam unless he/she has an admit slip from Student Services.
