Martial Arts Club

{Martial Arts Club }

The Martial Arts, for centuries, has been used as a discipline to teach self confidence, perseverance, honesty, and increase ones athletic ability, but the most obvious, the ability to defend ones self.

The Friars Martial Art club instructs in the Korean martial art of Hapkido, (the art of coordinated power), but also accepts other students from other disciplines. Meetings are twice a week for one hour in the morning before school in the wrestling room. Classes are held during the school year with special classes for upper belts in the summer.

Belt level advancement depends upon the athletic ability and grades of the student. Full contact is only allowed among the advanced students and only with the proper equipment. Formal outside competition is not considered part of the program. The instruction in the philosophy and discipline of the art is an integral part of the program. Students are required to have a signed parental wavier before joining the club.

The club would be open only to Fenwick students and faculty . Students are required to purchase and wear to class the traditional hapkido workout uniform and upper belts are required to join our Federation. (International Combat Hapkido Federation, ICHF.com)
