Friar Mentors is a peer tutoring program in which students who are experienced in a particular subject offer help to students needing academic assistance.
To make effective use of this program, it is important that students and parents understand:
1. Students are referred to the program either by a classroom teacher, or by the
individual student.
2. If a freshman is recommended to the program by a teacher, the parent(s) will
be notified by phone.
3. Tutoring sessions are as follows:
All sessions are held in #305-P
7:30 a.m. – 7:45 a.m. daily
8:00 a.m. – 8:35 a.m. on Monday, Thursday, and Friday
2:25 p.m. – 2:55 p.m. on Monday through Thursday
4. Students do not need an appointment.
5. An attendance sheet is done for all students using the Program. This sheet is
available to parents, teachers and counselors upon request.
6. There are tutors available for all subject areas. Of course, these tutors are
available only on certain days at definite time slots. Each classroom teacher
has a posted list of these times.
7. There is a Latin tutor who has graciously volunteered his time at 3:15 p.m. on
Thursdays.
8. Algebra I is a great need; here is the schedule for that subject:
7:30 a.m. – 7:55 a.m. every day
8:00 a.m. – 8:35 a.m. on Monday, Thursday and Friday
2:25 p.m. – 2:55 p.m. on Monday through Thursday
